Birds are easy to get attached’s why we love them so much . It’s pretty scary when they have an accident. Freaks me out every time. Keep an eye on him, and take him to a vet if you think he’s hurt. Definitely recommend getting some new perches, and it sounds like you’re on it! I rarely use the dowels in cages - I use a variety of wood perches, rope perches, a gritty perch, mine have a mineral perch too (tons of cool stuff out there). Different shapes, textures and sizes are good for their feet. Hoping your guy just got a scare, and didn’t hurt himself at all.
