Hi guys,
I'm sorry to write a brief paragraph on something so heartbreaking but I need help and its a lot to explain, please know if there was anything in the world I could do to change my situation I would, please be respectful of how devastating this is for me and my husband.
I need to rehome my beautiful baby Charlie. I reached out to an organization that was supposed to screen people and find the right match for a forever home and I am infuriated and dissaponimted at not only the TOTALLY wrong people ( never had a bird before in their lives and have multiple small children and dogs, ect) if anyone in the NYC area can help me or would like to adopt an AMAZING and beautiful 2 year old Sun, please email me personally- Contact a mod to forward information
I WILL NOT give up my bird for a " foster " only for the perfect fit. Please refrain from the " you haven't tried hard enough" scoldings, it's a long and painful story, please know I love this bird dearly and need to do what's right for him. All my love and respect ! Thank you for any help

Ps I also meant to say that the organization has been aggressive and pushy about me giving my bird to the first takers. That is NOT what we are trying to do. We respect and love our bird and he deserves to not be shuffled and to find a loving new home.

I am to far to be of any help but Good luck to you. I know it must be a hard thing to do. No one ever knows what might be in there future. We have had some really dedicated people come close to having to rehome there birds so no judgement here.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I am sorry you are faced with the heartbreaking choice of re-homing Charlie. You've made it clear there is no alternative, so I hope the forthcoming responses will remain on-subject and non-judgmental.

Thank you for caring enough about Charlie's ultimate future. Do you have a reasonable period of time to seek an ideal home or are you faced with an immediate deadline? If you have the luxury of some time, a strategy may be to network on an expanded basis with family, friends, co-workers, groups or associations you may belong to. Thankfully NYC has a huge population, making the pool of candidates quite large.

Perhaps somebody on this forum may be interested!

Yes, we are ok with time and that's why I thought the organization I reached out to would be perfect, I assumed they would take their time, screen people, ect and then we would decide if it would be good for Charlie and then move forward. Instead I was met with scolding and some people they found instantly that wanted to take Charlie the next day, never even having owned a bird before!!! I'm just overwhelmed. Hoping someone here might be a lead and also reaching out to all we know. Thanks so much for the support!!!

I'm sorry you have to go through the heartbreak of rehoming your sweet Charlie. I hope you find the perfect family to love him soon.

I'm in northern NJ, but I'm in no position to take him myself. I can ask around, but don't really know any "bird people" in real life (the only bird people I know live in my computer).

Hi and welcome.

Please let the members here have as much info on your Sun and of course some pics as mentioned before.

Wow he's gorgeous BTW. Obviously if you want help to try and sort this out we will all do our absolute best for you (no pressure!)

Perhaps a MOD could move this to the rehoming section?
