From time to time, members may need to find a new home for their Parrot. But commonly would want to have than happen near by. This since, Parrots are a long life creature that bonds emotionally with the Human Companion(s). Shipping such a family member far, far away is something that most would not wish.
Rescue Centers are common places for finding a Companion Parrot that wants you! Yes, it is not uncommon for a Parrot to pick it's Human.
Rescue Centers commonly want to place a Parrot in a Home that they know is a 'forever' home! They normally look for individuals that have had and therefore have a knowledge of the care needed for a Parrot. That would also be true for individuals that are looking to rehome their Companions.
Normally, an individual that would be looking to provide a Macaw a Forever Home would have years of experience with a MAC. If you have limited or no experience with a MAC or any Parrot. I would strongly recommended that you contact a Rescue in your area and provide your time free to them. This will allow you to start at the bottom and develop an understand of the different Parrots include the many different MAC's and whether this Parrot of that Parrot best fits your 'home' and ability to support them.
If this all works out, you will note that some Parrot will have nothing to do with you and others will be interested in getting to know you better.
So, try that first and let us know what information you many need to better understand loving and living with Parrots.
