The local Mom & Pop pet shop is selling this very friendly Cockatoo.
This place is not known for Bargen prices and they are asking $2,000.00 dollars . I think the original owner passed away but I don't remember for sure what the story was on the bird.

I post this information here in the hope it want end up sitting in their shop for a year or 2 waiting for someone to come by.

They lowered the price on the found Red Lord Amazon to $999.00 dollars (down from 1,199.00).

That's pretty awful for an 18 year-old Cockatoo that just needs to find a loving, responsible home. There are literally thousands of adult Cockatoos in shelters, Rescues, and online on places like Craigslist in need of homes, so a pet shop trying top charge $2,000 for an 18 year-old Cockatoo is absolutely ridiculous, especially since they got it for free most-likely...

Someone should tell the owners that you can go to ANY Avian Rescue or Shelter and adopt all the adult Cockatoos you want for an adoption-fee of $400 or less...And that includes their cage, toys, etc. Same thing on Craigslist, even the greedy people trying to "rehome" their adult Cockatoos online only ask betwen $500-$1,000 and that includes their cage and all of their belongings...The Avian Rescue I work for does a sliding adoption fee based on the size/species of the bird, and any species of Cockatoo other than an Umbrella or Moluccan is $350, while the Umbrella and Moluccans are $400, which is the highest adoption fee we ask, and is what most of the Macaws also cost to adopt.

I hope that this poor bird finds a great, loving home, but there are just so many adult Cockatoos up for adoptions and online for re-homing for a fraction of the price they're asking, I doubt that it's going to find a home any time soon...

I bought Bella from this place a little over 2 years ago.
They sold Bella at the same price and she was in bad shape.
I explained to them all the things you point out but they were unmoved.
I could have waited 6 to 9 months for them to lower the price a bit but Bella would have been the one to suffer and put up with the trauma of being exposed to such a hectic location.

I just don't have the money or the space to take on all the birds that deserve good homes. I just hope this Too finds a home before it develops plucking habits.
