Oklahoma, Texas, or Kansas parrot lovers...

My male, blue and gold macaw needs a new home or needs to be placed in a small rehab facility or sanctuary.

There is a re-homing fee of $1000 for him. Whoever wants him must provide the name and location of an avian vet that they plan to take him to for a full vet work-up. He will come with a huge cage (Pervue Silverado Dometop Macaw Cage - look it up on Amazon, I believe it is worth $500), some natural wood perching, his food and water bowls, a bag of his pellet feed, and an additional, free-standing perch with food and water bowl attachments and a stainless steel mess-pan. He will also come with a self-mutilation prevention collar though he has never been trained to wear it before.

If you are interested or would like to know more, PLEASE message me. I have a 3 page background typed up on him that details his history as a rescue as well as his behavioral problems.

I love this bird and despite everything he has been through, he loves me too and trusts me. I really want to find a home that can provide the care he needs. He IS a self-mutilator. He picks at his wings and regurgitates on them. He has no known illnesses and his weights have always been good and steady. I cannot afford vet work for him at this time and he has never had a full avian vet work-up. He bonds well to people who have time to spend on him, treats to give, and who approach and handle him carefully. Again, he is a rescue and it takes a long time for him to trust people, but he is capable of trusting people and being a sweet, playful companion. His new companion will need patience above all else.

I'm heart-broken that I cannot offer him the care and attention he needs anymore and I have no family or friends who can take him in. I'm really wanting someone who has dealt with rescues in the past, has other birds he can potentially bond to, and patience to spare him.

I am willing to transport him anywhere in Oklahoma or Texas or Kansas along with all of his things. PLEASE message me for details about his background or if you have suggestions on rehabs or sanctuaries. I'd prefer he go to a parrot lover with experience in a home-setting, but if anyone has experience with a really nice shelter that can provide the care and attention he needs, please let me know.

Thank you.

As a new member, members of this Forum will need to contact you with the help of one of the Moderators. Its just part of the security system in place to protect both existing and new member alike.

I'm not going to comment regarding your 'selling price' as that is between you and the buyer. I'm far to far away anyway.

Thank you for the information. I am more than willing to negotiate the fee for the right home. That was just suggested to me by others who have re-homed their macaws along with all of the materials he would come with.

So sorry to hear you need to rehome him. Iā€™m sure itā€™s hard on you just to make this post. I live in Pa wish it was closer as I take in birds whom need help such as yours. I have a cockatoo that plucks and has to wear vests or collars to help as she pulls feathers from her legs, wings neck area and pull skin off her feet. But she too can be so sweet. Itā€™s annever ending battle. Iā€™m a stay at home mom so I entertain her throughout the day so her feathers have regrown but not all. Iā€™m still considered a new member so a moderator would have to Ames me your info but love to chat with you.
