Any online rescues or any reputable online bird breeders

So as it turns out, the rescue closest to me doesnít dont do adoptions and the nearest one that does is 80 miles away in a whole different state. Now, I do know why rescues might not ship birds, it could be traumatic for the birds but I am in an area where bird rescues arenít common and I really want to adopt a bird from a rescue but I can find one anywhere.

Also, Iím asking if you guys have any idea for any reputable online bird breeders also, yes I know that buying from a breeder might be controversial but I do believe that birds kept at a breeders place are basically stuck at a rescue.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Re: Any online rescues or any reputable online bird breeders

Im wondering if you've made a typo? 80 miles away is an inconvenient but certainly not an impossible distance. That is, as compared to an "online breeder," who might be presumably Very far away?

Also have you checked your local SPCA? (I know mine always has parakeets but occasionally much larger parrots for adoption also.)

Re: Any online rescues or any reputable online bird breeders

Just to clarify (not to be snarky, but to make sure you understand the difference...)I can understand buying from a breeder, but what you must understand is that you are supporting an industry and supporting further breeding. Birds at breeder facilities are not like birds at rescues...1. because they never were taken away from their flock (yet) and 2. because adopting from a rescue doesn't encourage increased production.

People do it all the time, but I just wanted to make sure you understood the distinction---I am a HUGE fan of adoption (because there are SO many birds that get relinquished), but I don't necessarily condemn buying from a breeder, as long as you are aware of these things.

I just think it is important that you see the difference--not condemning your choices.
