I just had to make a thread, anyways tell me about your Alexandrine.

Is your alexandrine cuddly? Does he or she liked to be touched?
I would really like to hear all your stories.

Have you been able to catch your alexandrine doing something funny, cute, talking etc?

Recently Alex loves talking to our cats. He meows to them and they meow back. Ive tried many times to get him on video without any luck. :(
He just hates the camera.

I do have a video of him just meowing though. :)

I didn't get him in the frame though.

Here is a short video of him practicing talking. It's a bit old now. He now has a larger vocabulary. He was molting them :p

Enjoy. :)

You just got to love their voice. :D

Here are some photo's of Bert!

Here Bert is about 12 weeks old and is such a curious George
Photo0200.jpg

Just loving some broccolini!
Photo0218.jpg

Surfing the web for different types of seeds he can eat...
Photo0239.jpg

All fluffed up and ready for nap time :)
Photo0241.jpg

And last but not least, shower time!
Photo0258.jpg

He is about 10 months old now and getting to be a real fatty! Bert doesn't love cuddles, but lets his mummy cuddle him for a few minutes without getting cranky ;) But he LOVES to be near or on me at all times. He has to know what's going on, he's so damn curious I think it's going to get the better of him one day! He's the most precious thing in my life and I love him to pieces. I could sit and watch the funny things he does for hours on end :)

He still makes baby noises (which melt my heart) so my favourite thing is, in the morning I wake up and uncover him and then go about my business, I get very loud flock calls to see where I am! And then when I come home from work he gets so excited to see me he doesn't stop calling and chatting to me for like an hour and then we spend the evening together eating vegetables :)

aww Bert looks like such a sweety! I love the name too :)

I have a question though, I'm a little worried that I take Reggie out of his cage too much, to come sit with me & listen to music, cuddle when he feels like it :p because when I put him back in the cage most of the time after about 5 minutes he'll start screaming. he has fresh food, fresh water, plenty of toys & a clean cage. so, am I taking him out to often?

Oh my goodness! Reggie has THE sweetest face I have ever seen! What a cutie!

After you put him back in his cage do you leave the room?
Whenever I leave the room Bert will scream out like there's no tomorrow, which is usually followed by him coming out of his cage by himself and waddling over to climb on to my foot and up my leg.
I don't really have a solution for you, I don't think he's in pain and or there's anything wrong, he just misses you and wants to know where you are. Bert will quiet down as soon as I walk back in to the room.
It's not a problem for me noise wise and it doesn't annoy me, so I just leave him do his thing :)

sometimes I leave, sometimes I just put him in the cage & sit to watch tv or go on the computer. & he screams either way, or just makes little cooing/chittering noises which is SO cute. but since he's so young I was worried that maybe he wasn't liking his cage/getting used to it since he's with me a lot.

& thank you for replying!

They are both so cute! :D

My Alex's both don't have a "cage". Well they kind of do. They are outside 100% of the time. They do venture back to their cage maybe 1-4 times a week. Their food is on the outside of their cage. Soo I guess that doesn't help. I would remove the cage completely but I'm using it to help hold up some branches which connect the cage with their playstand.

They hardly squawk. Alex talks A LOT. So I get more talking than squawks.

Yuki recently lost her baby voice. I do miss it as it was very cute. :)
I hear her mumbling all the time. I'm pretty sure she is trying talk.

Ash do you think they don't call out as much because they have each other? I often think that Bert would be a little more quiet if he had a feathered companion, but I don't think he would do very well with another bird.
How old is Yuki? I don't want Bert to lose his baby voice, it's so darn cute! He doesn't talk yet and if he does it will be interesting to see what he comes out with as I just chat to him, not saying anything specific. But we do have some very loud chickens and cat, so you never know...

And LSMITTZ, I really do think he is just happy and trying to communicate with you :) I would be really concerned if Bert ever stopped vocalizing.

I would love our next house to have a huge back yard, so I can have a big aviary full of Alexandrine's!
And just for a bit of extra cuteness Bert just had a bath in his water dish, but it must have been too tiring because now he is having a nap :D

Yuki is probably about 11 months old. She was born around September. She lost her baby voice for a month or 2 then she started using it again. :p But then she stopped using it again.

I'm thinking about adding another Alexandrine to my flock :p
I just love them. They are such gentle giants.
I'm pretty sure Alex is really a she. So I may get a male. Because I would love to breed them. :)

Aw she sounds super cute. I just never want Bert to lose his baby voice :D
I would love to have a whole flock of them! I love watching them and I would love to breed them, that would be amazing. I would encourage you in adding another alex :p I'm always telling any one who will listen, how amazing they are!

I agree that they are gentle giants but honestly Bert has such an attitude! I don't know if he is ever going to grow out of it! He loves having his beak and head stroked with my hair lolol He is a bit of a freak :D

The plan feel through :(
The owner now wants double what he originally wanted. And I can't afford that. I did try to talk him out of it but he wont budge. :(
