Smoke Scare

So I was at home in my apartment when I smelled smoke and something burning. It distinctly smelled like a stovetop coil overheating, but my stove wasn't on. Next thing I know my living room got all hazy with smoke.

I went upstairs, grabbed my alexandrine, and put him in his Bird Pak while he was still half-asleep. We went outside and sure enough two fire trucks and an ambulance showed up. The apartment that shares the back wall with me had a kitchen fire.

I stayed outside with my now grumpy bird for 40 mins, and then decided to chance going back in and leaving the windows open. Nothing bad happened to my apartment except for the lingering smell of smoke/burnt. The main thing that concerns me is I keep wondering what if I hadn't been home. The amount of smoke that went into my apartment made my living room look like it had a fog machine for awhile.

Re: Smoke Scare

Good thing you reacted fast!!! It doesn't take much smoke to suffocate birds. So keep the rooms aired out for now.
