How long does it take an alexandrine to get used to you?

Alexandrine - 12 months old
So I've had my alexandrine for over a month now and it is around 9 months old. I got it from the pet store and it wasn't hand fed as a baby. Whenever I get closer to his cage he gets scared and starts climbing the furthest part og the cage. I haven't let him out to fly still, because I think he isn't ready yet. How can we get closer with my alexandrine? ( I don't want him to grow lonley)
Thanks in advance!

Spend lots of time just sitting and talking with your birdie. You need to have slow and quiet movements around him/her. Just spend sometime sitting and talking or reading to your bird. Offer treats to them and in time you will find they will get better and start to approach you. Alex's are very food driven. They love to try new foods so offer through the cage bars at first and them progress with the door open.

Please check through the other posts in the Alex section as there is lots of helpful information.:)
