So the shop that I help volunteer with had two Alexandrine babies. I fell in love instantly with the two of them and started doing some research. I had been sitting on the fence about pulling the trigger and purchasing one of them, figuring that while I was there I could play with them etc. maybe get it out of my system.

Well one soon was sold and though I was sad to see her go, she went to a frequent customer. Then the next weekend to my surprise the other was sold as well. I figured it was meant to be and I didn't think to much of it. Well to my surprise the second one came back because the woman who purchased him didn't clear it with her significant other so he was returned. I couldn't believe it. I must of visited at least four times that week and the shop owner knew I was smitten and I finally pulled the trigger yesterday and brought him home.

So this is my pretty boy Merlin. Yes it's a boy already got his DNA results back and so far he's doing great. He's 12 weeks old and adjusting nicely.

Thank you all again. He's settling in nicely already destroyed one toy and I'm looking for some more toys that will last a little longer for Merlin :) Probably going to have to wait for this weekend as him plus the cage has cost me quite a bit, all worth it lol.

Any toy suggestions?

As for his diet, Merlin is on a mix of small and large hook bill seed, he also get's fresh veggies, fruit and even dried or cooked plain pasta. I was considering adding some pellets into Merlin's diet however I am skeptical just because it seems a little un-natural. Don't get me wrong Merlin will eat anything, he isn't fussy at all, however I want to make sure to give him the best.

Here's another picture of Merlin in his cage set up. I absolutely love his sand perch it makes his feet soft and naturally grinds down his nails I will be investing in more of these perches for my other birds especially my Conures! As for the other perch I will be removing it and replacing it with some of the more thick natural like branch perches as I'm not to fond of the perch that came with the cage.

I give our Alex, Bundii a mixture of pellets and seeds as I figure everything in moderation.

Merl in is certainly a gorgeous boy.

As for toys, anything wooden is a hit in our house. Alex's are known for their chewing abilities. Bundii is not too keen on plastic. We have a long rope toy that kind of looks like a octopus. It is a favourite as she can dunk it in her water bowls. She loves any kind of natural seed pod, gum nuts, etc. They seem to be the favourite thing at the moment. However the toy preferences seem to change quite frequently in this house.

Thank you so much for the input. I'm taking him back to the shop tomorrow to pick out some toys for his cage.

I think Merlin and I are really starting to bond. It was trying the first two days he had nailed me twice not drawing any blood but still firm enough to tell me to back off, and give him his space. However today seemed to be quite a break through as I kind of found something that he really likes and giving him. I hand feed babies and I noticed that when I am hand feeding he gives me his sweet baby cry asking for the syringe which I'll give in and let him have a little bit and well today I noticed that he is now making those sweet baby noises to be around me, coming to me willingly and today was preening me and nuzzling against me while making the same sweet chirps. Warmed my heart even more
