Hey guys
So echo will be two years old in march. He has yet to show a black ring but he has been DNA'd. I don't care if echo is a he/she ( will always be my baby<3) but the breeder did charge me extra for a male.
any advice on what i should do ? :green2:

Do you have the DNA certificate or were you just verbally told this bird is a male?
To satisfy your curiosity, I'd get another DNA test so you'll know for sure.

It seems like on a previous discussion about Alexandrine rings, the age at which the ring starts to appear can vary quite a bit between individuals. I don't think it's real unusual for a male to be still 'bare' at 2 if I remember correctly.

my breeder told me that some IRNs can take up to three years to ring out, though Scout seems to be doing so early, and so is his brother.

I have a DNA certificate. Oh ok. I was under the assumption that many times that the ring starts showing at 2 but there is no hint of black on him so im a little worried.

Yeah, my IRN had his red ring when he was 2 , it was fully out. Lets hope for the best :) Thanks

Hi,
There may be a few other ways that might give you some clues...
I have a boy and girl both around 14mths old. The male has just started to show a few pink feathers on the back of his neck but no black feathers at the front. Also, my male talks alot but the female only says hello occasionally.
