Alexandrine Young Parrot losing feathers

Hi,
I have 2 beautiful Alexandrines. The youngest, who is about 4 and a half months now is going through her first moult (we think)

She is looking like she is missing many feathers around her head and neck and is sensitive to touch. I can see new feathers coming through in all these areas and there are no bald patches. She is eating and playing as normal.

Is this a normal proccess or should I be concerned? What are first moults like in Alexandrines?

Thanks to anyone who can offer some insight!

Considering she's an alexandrine (or rather, a ringneck species), it sounds like she's going through a heavy molt.

Ringnecks and eclectus can both have such heavy molts that it appears as if they are plucking or excessively rubbing their feathers off. Once the molt is over, they look as gorgeous as ever!!!

Of course, when in doubt, it doesn't hurt to seek the advice of an avian vet! :)

My Alex always looks like he has gone through a shredder during a moult. I'm always so happy when it's over.
