My tiny parrots are growing up well. Some recent pics :D

It's been a month since I got my first parrot. Got the small one after a week but they are growing very well now. At first I was worried about them as I had less knowledge about how to take care of a small baby which almost looks like a skeleton but as days passed by I learned a lot of things. Many people on this forum helped and guided me to raise them properly. They love to sit on my lap and and as I scratch and pet them they both sleep eventually on my lap. Both of them have started to flap their wings and sometimes it's really funny when you see them drifting round and round on the ground flapping their wings and trying to fly. The small one is male and big one is female.

PS: The small one doesn't have a nail on his left foot but he is facing no problems in doing anything. I don't know what to do about it.

The loss of a single toe end (nail) can happen and commonly occurs as a result of a nest mate or parent biting it off. Less common, but possible is that it got caught on something. The loss of a single toe nail will not interfere with that overall activity of the Parrot.

Watch that it develops a skin coat over the bone, if you do not see that occur take them to your Avian Vet, have the Vet look at it to assure that it is healed well.

Yes it has formed a skin coat over that toe. Nothing else has happened as he is acting normally like a healthy chick. He likes to act dead and sleep in an awkward position but as soon as he wakes up he is active again.

very cute pics!
couple suggestions, I would remove the newspaper from inside the cage, you don't want them in contact with their poop for obvious reasons and the way you got that chain toy setup is almost perfect for a bird to hang themself.

That 'trick' will go away soon enough, but the first time that 'trick' got played had to take your breath away.

Really cute! FYI, with that style cage, they will learn to open the slides in no time! Tyewrap the unused ones and consider some type of clips for the others. Mount a nice piece of a maple branch in there, those round ones aren't the most comfortable for them. No need to buy anything, just be sure of your source for the branch! Bark on is OK!

Thank you David for the suggestion, I will get a maple branch tomorrow and replace it with those plastic rodes. As far as keeping them in the cage I usually keep the door open and they are free to move in and out anytime. They haven't learned to fly yet so flying away is not a problem as for now. I keep them outside cage most of the daytime so that they can move freely and when they learn to fly I will make sure to do as you said. Thank you again for your suggestion.

Yes sailboat the first time I saw him acting dead I was worried about what happened to him. When I went near him I saw that he was in deep sleep and murmuring something in his sleep as if he is dreaming of paradise &#55357;&#56834;&#55357;&#56834;&#55357;&#56834;. When he woke up I was convinced that he just learned a new strange way to sleep that's all.

My rat is missing one of his toenails, I believe he was just born without it but it's caused him no problems. I know rat and parrots are very different but in most animals they can adapt around something if they've had it since they were young.

@adz1984 Thank you for your suggestion, I will remove that newspaper. I kept it cause they were not used to the cage for first couple of days and they were not able to walk properly in the cage. Their legs were going down the spaces and to make them adapt to the new environment I thought keeping newspaper might be a good idea.

Dang! I would of had a heart attack if I saw that!
