Max has recently started manicuring his own nails, he's been preening himself all the while since I've had him but yesterday and today he very carmly balances on one leg and chews at his nails.

Is this normal behaviour. ?

I have got various width natural Java wood perches in his cage and sandpaper on the floor (which I've never seen his walk on lol

Yea it's normal for parrots to chew on their nails I guess because I have a pair of Indian ring necks and both of them do so after preening too. They are 2 and half months old. It's because maybe their nails are growing bigger.

When they prean do they latterly lick their own feathers, Max seems to run his tongue up and down them kinda like a cat when it licks its feet to clean itself lol

Again is this right ?

Hahaha that's interesting I haven't seen a parrot lick it's feathers actually, they just clean themselves up. But I don't think it is a problem because maybe every parrot has its own different way to clean itself. Maybe if you are worried than just take a short video and post it here and I would tell you it's normal or not.
