Hi everyone, I have noticed my hulk is starting to be very vocal. He is doing the brrrr scream quite regularly and I was wondering if this is normal? He has lots of toys in his cage to keep him occupied and is given lots of attention. Is this an age thing? He is about 6 mths old now. Is there a good way to help curb this behaviour when not wanted? Thanks in advance everyone

It would help to know what kind of bird you have... I know I KNEW but I forgot! Maybe add it in your profile or details, or... a photo would be great.

That said, yeah, pretty normal. Parrots love to yell, or at least most do. You can try ignoring it, not rewarding it, providing lots of toys, etc., but really, it's a sign of a healthy, engaged parrot, usually.

But the brrrr sound.. when does he do it? May be he is bored staying in the cage and wants you to do something about it.

Parrots are loud, at times. No getting around that. But constant screaming merits a closer look at health, environment, engagement or other factors. Dont reward unwanted behaviour. And repeat this mantra -
It is never the fault of the parrot; it is always the fault of the human. Believe it, live it and love your parrot withthat in mind.
