hi all!

today i adopted my first alexandrine. I have done all my research before purchasing however i do have one question.

i have put her into her new home which is a parrot cage that is heaps big for her however she has spent the last 5 hours in a quiet area doing laps of the roof hanging upside down and biting the bars.

roughly how long will it take her to settle down? im just afraid she might hurt herself.

i cant wait to start taming her so she can come out of the cage.

Hey Benji. Welcome to the group. Well.. if you are waiting for the alex to stop the laps you may have to wait forever coz Alexes relish the laps. Of course he must be nervous now. But if he is doing the laps don't worry. He is just getting used and will continue to do the same.

You should take you time. Do not rush. First get her used to you being around her. Sit outside the cage. Keep talking to her even if she doesn't show that she is listening to you. The nervousness will slowly come down. Keep offering treats without get her nervous.
There are a lot of people here who can help you with getting closer to your parrot. You are at the right place.

Hi, what is her story? How old is she where did you get her from etc?

I have a 17 month old parent-reared Alex who is a bit of a hormonal monster at the moment, but who is a gem really! He tamed quickly, but I put a lot of work in especially at first. I mean hours sitting next to the cage talking about what was happening on TV!
