Currently I have none, but I have the capacity to adopt a minimum and maximum of two budgies - preferably a bonded pair or two males.

The Deputy High Commissioner pointed out that animal trafficking was one issue where the future focus would be.

“It is on all-India basis, and in A.P. we have identified a couple of issues and they include the star tortoise and Alexandrine parakeet. Trafficking of these two species is on the rise and we would like to look into these aspect,” he said.

Global meet

An international conference on animal trafficking would be held in London in October this year. “We expect a Ministerial-level delegation from India to discuss and deliberate on this issue,” he said.

not only in india but In Pakistan Also

From my interaction with birders and bird lovers from Pakistan or who have visited Pakistan, the situation seems much worse there with the species on verge of extinction.

I see youtube videos of Pakistani breeders openly buying, selling and breeding Alexandrines . In India they would not do it openly, though the trade happens underground. It has already disappeared from many parts of Southern and Northern India. But Central and Western India still have some good populations.

Well! You can't change the past. So the best you can do is to look after your baby of this precious species, but what you can do is prevent other people from making the same mistake. And also do whatever you can to help safe guard wild populations including ensuring the strict enforcement of existing laws and joining bird conservation groups.
