So, my sweet little girl Leia just in the last couple of days started sporting about 10 or so blatantly pink feathers at the back of her neck.... She's supposed to be a female! (she was a rehome and I didn't actually get any DNA test results or anything but her documents do say female)

She's a year old so still pretty young to get a full ring if she's actually a male, but as far as I understand it's uncommon but not impossible for the males to start developing a partial ring during their first molt at around a year old? At least that's what I've been finding on google lol.

It definitely aint no shadow ring though, that's for sure! She's always had one of those - the pink ones are a whole other story....

We'll see how the molt, and maybe also the next one, progresses, but it's looking like she might in fact be male  I at least have no other explanation.....

It's been almost two weeks since the first couple of pink feathers appeared now - and they keep coming!

So she's definitely male then! ...I do think I'll keep referring to her as "she" though, but I'll have to include a disclaimer every time stating that I do know she is in fact male :D :18:

Hehe! Yup, she's a fine looking young man! My boy (?) has some very dark feathers around his beak and I think some are growing under his green on his chin area, but no signs of pink yet and they're taking AGES! I'm still not sure it isn't a shadow ring. He's 20 months so if he is a he he'll be the opposite of your early bloomer. He's started a proper molt in the last week or so so hopefully if any pink feathers are going to make an appearance they'll be soon!
