Re: Loud

If say she is started to settle in and feel comfortable. And out of the cage, she was feeling happy.

Welcomed to the forum! I have a couple big links I will get and add. What is your experience with parrots, have you had any before?
Great article! But I'm not a clicker training fan, I do shape behavior but I say good birdie and give treats.

Re: Loud

You can also post in the new members forum, tell a little about yourself and reference you thread her. That way you will get a big welcome from our members!! Something threads get missed as there are so many people posting.

Congratulations on Kiwi! It's great that you are actively seeking knowledge, and keep it up for the life of your bird!! I'm always trying to learn more. Even after 20 years of keeping them, and more years working with them

Has your bird learned to fly? Young birds that learn to fly well, before if ever , having their wings clipped, are much happier. Learning to fly develops their brains and bodies, and eyesight, and us a critical developmental milestones.

O will link my Ornithology thread, on page 10 of this thread I put a bunch of links in behavior. Including how to handle screaming, birds will be loud some and need to be, but you don't want to reinforce screaming by mistake.
Ornithology: Share and discuss scientific articles on parrots!

Re: Loud

Do try and get used to the sound of your lovely Alex. You'll find that as she gets older, she'll make a habit of calling (loudly) twice a day: in the morning and again in the evening. It's called 'flock calling' and there's really nothing you can do to stop a bird doing it. It's normal and natural for them to call to other flock members, just to be sure that everyone's where they should be.

I love the sound my Beaks make and enjoy it a LOT more than the call of my corella!
