Is this signs of the ring developing?

Hi my Alexandrine is some where around 4 months old. I noticed feather under the neck turn dark, however I was told that the ring doesn't appear till 18months...please experts can you'll advice. I have attached the photo for visual reference. TIA

Hi, no that is what is called a shadow ring. Both sexes get them as youngsters. It doesn't give you any information on gender. That is definitely a young bird too.

You'll have to wait I'm afraid! 18 months is a little early for a ring, but some males will get it then. It will probably appear as a few jet black feathers around the lower beak and then just keep coming!

How can some say what sex they are even without DNA test. I’ve asked breeders and they have just said it’s down to experiance and stop there with no explanation.
I’ve asked the vet and they want £80 to test them
