I was going to post this question as well. From what I understand that any candles that are petroleum (I think) based is bad. A soy based candle or a beeswax candle I believe is alright. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yellow Naped Amazon -female, Umbrella Cockatoo - female.
What about the scents?
I thought that the scent was also bad?
I took all my scented candles out of my house after I read not to use them.

I researched this alot at the beginning when I first got Kiwi (although, I'm still hesitant to burn any until talking with the vet at the end of the month) I think the biggest problem was the petroleum, please don't listen to just me though. I do know that I also read that there was a candle that was "bird safe" it was made out of beeswax. I am such a candle burner, I have two large drawers filled with candles that are not on their way to my friends house. I need to find some "safe" ones for the fall/winter. I will try and find the ones made that are made of beeswax. I would also caution those with "flighted" birds to watch out for the flames. Kiwi is clipped as well as the fact that she doesn't move off of perch(I wish she would!)lol
