Good fruit and veggie diet

I was doing some research on a well balanced diet for my 20 year old Mealy amazon and just wanted to no what all you other amazon owners feed your parrots on the day to day basis and how much of it do you feed them... I would like to feed her only fruits and veggie, some nuts, seeds only as treats and no pellets... Any help and ideas are welcome just trying to find the best diet for Laylee( my amazon)... p.s. she is vitamin a dificiant so that is my main concern so any diet has to be high in vitamin a...

I don't have an amazon, but I would not recommend going completely off pellets... they really are well balanced with the nutrients parrots need, but it's up to you.

If she has a vitamin a deficiency, try giving her sweet potatoes, they are extremely high in vitamin a, and it sounds like a lot of parrots like them. Also, dark leafy greens like collard and mustard and butternut squash would help.

I do feed her sweet patotos and I did read about other heathy food... Whatwould be a good portion of food to give her... I herd amazons as well as other parrots like to just keep on eating and tend to get overweight.. eventualy I am gonna put her on her on a pellet diet but right now I would like to keed her on organic fruits and veggies because I now exactly what she is eating... I have also read that amazons eat 15% to 20% of ther body weight should I buy a scale and measure her food...

There's lots of post on this topic.Pellets and a diet of fresh fruits and vegs is the best diet that we know of at this time. Pellets should make up 60-70% of her diet.Feeding her sweet potatoes and carrots are good for Vit A ,also direct sunlight. Research in some of the older topics.

If you are not really sure regarding a perrot need for ingrediance in food then maby you should use some pellet. There are pellets brand developed by spe******t, I am not a spe******t so I also use pellets I the food for my DYHA

It makes sence to feed her a pellet based diet because all of the benefit they claim to have but I read some some info that said pellets aint all there cracked up to be... It said in the backing procces they looses some of its nutrition and while the food sits and waits to be used they also loose some of there nutrience so I am just concerned for my parrot seeing how she is already dificient in important vitamins... I will read some of the other post but for now does anyone have any suggestions on some good pellet brands out there...

Normaly I dont go into the pellets brand discussion but can say that Harrison is popular among the vet in Sweden. I use it myself but mix it up with other brands. Yes it is true that during the backing procces they looses some of its nutrition and therefor the backing temperature should be as low as possible, around 40 deg C.
