Ah, the age old dilemma. The best thing I can say is to ignore it. Any reaction to her screaming, even just making eye contact, is going to reinforce the behavior. It is a sure test of willpower on both of your parts but remember, our parrots have the intelligence comparable to that of a 2-4 year old child, keeping that in mind always helps me. If the screaming gets you too flustered, just walk away for a minute. Go outside or into another room and take a deep breath, just don't give into her screams. You might also try making or buying her some new toys, things that are meant to be shredded and torn apart might help keep her preoccupied and cut down on the time she is sitting there yelling. They don't have to be expensive either, my birds like when I tie paper toweling around their cage bars so they can shred it to bits. Although, since you said she wants to mate, I don't know if that would be okay as she might try and use it as nesting material, hopefully some of our zon spe******ts could give more insight on that.

When birds get to this point I suggest you take to avian vet for check up. My GF did this with her bird. They did a sonogram on her to count follicles. She had 2. Vet said if there were 3 or more she should get lupron injections to calm the harmones down some. It is a series f 3 and cost $50 each here in Md. It hurts your bird as well as your ears.

After the vet visit where he also did a little massage on her belly as it was puffy she calmed down.

So maybe Beemer is calling to you because she wants to be included? Have you tried giving her a little whistle? At the rescue there are 'screamers' there who scream for various reasons. I don't give them any direct attention, but I will start whistling a little tune (usually one I make up on the spot) and every last one of them will calm down and just watch and listen. I don't have to do it for long and I may have to do it again once or twice, but it's almost like they just want acknowledgement that they're there and I'm here and we're all still part of the group. Once they get it it's business as usual (basically poop and mess making!) and we can all hear ourselves think again and have a conversation.

I don't know if that's right or popular or whatever, but it works great in the rescue!

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
I like your wisdom, lizardsmells. BeemersMamma, Mi Amigo likes to be acknowledged. The bummer being, he likes to be the ONLY one acknowledged, can be trying at times. Especially, when my family also want my attention.
