I've come to realize what goes on in that little green mind. I can help you bond with your amazon, No ,this won't fix her social issues, but i can help you become "the man" in your Zons's life. It's amazing how much they trust us.It's amazing how close you can become with your zon.I thought about making some short videos about Jake and myself, and help people learn what goes on in that little green mind. After 40 yrs of dealing with the same bird i've learned a lot about what makes them tick.Could we start a friendly blog or thread that would give people an insight into their companion ? I don't want to be the "last word" in amazon behavior but would like to see if i could shorten the learning curve. Is anyone game? Could we start a group about zon behavior?

From little to big - currently 6 Linnies; 2 Budgies; 1 BHP; 2 CAGs; 2 Zons; 1 GWM. Formerly in the flock: 1 LSC2 [fostered/rehomed] RIP: 1 budgie 1 WCP & 1 sweet Pan Am
I am way too new to be of much use, but would love to have help shortening the learning curve for myself & will cheerfully offer what insight I pick up along the way.

That's what we need, I'll throw it out there and you tell us if it works.

I'm game, too, but am also new to zons. I've only had Pete 3 months. He has a lot in common with other parrots, and yet he doesn't. I'd sure like to pick your brain, Henpecked, as well as those of other long time zon owners.

I have only had Lupin since Nov, but would love to read a thread with amazon advice from others.

I think you would go to "community" & then form a group. Any discussions could be held in the group.

Fantastic idea!
Even though I have made some progress with my female OWA, she is not very affectionate and is quite capable of turning around and biting me in the middle of a head scratch :(

Hey Emmy, that sounds pretty normal for most young/new amazons. She's happy to "call the shots" but she would be equally happy to have a good leader to follow. You need to set the tone for your relationship with her.You call the shots, sure pet her when she fluffs up but stop before she's had enough. She's still trying to control her enviroment and needs to learn to trust you to look after her and supply her with all the good things in life. All this is normal and will change as you and her bond, but be sure you are the leader and not her or you'll not be happy with her choices.Don't smother her but let her come to you and leave her wanting a little more. Before long you'll have learned so much about each other that you can have a great relationship. Good luck

Count me in. Chili and I are very bonded. He's wonderful and so much fun but may need assistance for the hormonal years

I found it because Henpecked posted a link in the new members area. When I clicked on the links it showed me a budgie group, but under that it said something like "show all groups". I clicked on that and found it.
