Iggy- YCA
So, I just had Iggy hanging out with me before bed, and happened to have a camera handy...here are the results (the least blurry ones anyway):

"Mom, this cracker is REALLY yummy!" (as he crumbles it onto my terribly gaudy pajama pants)
iggycracker.jpg

This is him with the infamous all-protective oven mitt that I always have by my side...
iggymitt.jpg

And finally, make sure you read the text, it says it all
paintiggyhand.jpg

So at least the aggression is getting better, too bad the screaming is harder to deal with...Enjoy the pix!

Haha, that playgym is so old, and now partially taken apart (because of the height thing), but it's served me well. After like 4 years I managed to find it though!!! Here's the link:

http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=70302191005

The nice thing is that there's no shipping. Also, since it's wood, if the parrot chews any of the pieces, you can order individual pieces from the company. One tip though, if you ever did get this, or something of the same style, USE GLUE (non toxic of course) when putting it together...my last boyfriend and I skipped that part, so it's always been a bit wobbly in places (my 10 pound persian jumping on it didn't help of course). But it's a great gym, Iggy really likes it, and there are a lot of hooks to hang toys from and a couple of bowls for food an water. As far as room, it takes up most of my living room, so we have to skirt around it, but hey, if it makes the bird happy....

Wow that is brilliant, and I take it back its not like any of the ones I've seen here, We only get the top part and its a hanging one. Your one is far better, especially as you can get replacement parts for it.

Hey Phoebus- Does your girl sit on your hand or climb on you? B/c a good way to tell if they need their nails clipped is when after they've been climbing on your arm, you either look like you tried to slit your wrists, or you look like you've been shooting up. Plus, it's usually pretty painful when they clench those talons in your skin.

Just a few friendly tips :)

Nicole she won't sit on my hand, but may crawl on my leg to get something I am eating..:DWell the times she did sit on my hand for 1'' she did leave some white lines on my skin. She doesn't want to dig nails in my skin and that's why she can't kepp her balance on my hand and flys back to her cage..I only couldn't get the vet on the phone yesterday or else she would have had her nails trimmed already!:D

p.s.Today I introduced her to the nail file...I was showing her what do we do with it and then took one of her feet in my hand and she rapidly grabbed the nail file outta my hand, pulled her foot away and went to examine her trophy.I didn't let her play with it and she started growling for taking her ''toy'' away...:D

Hi!! I'd let her play with it. In fact - attach it, if you can, in her house.

One bad winter (extremely cold), I couldn't get Fritzy out to be groomed and that little budgie didn't like pedicures (it took three people - one with file, one with feet, and one for the beak) so I wouldn't risk attempting it solo. His nails were getting really long. He also hated it when I filed my own nails (attacked the file). So, in a moment of sheer insanity - I attached a new, clean emery board to his house. Well, he went on fid-attack trying to remove the reviled object. He'd climb on it, trying to chew it out of there not realizing that he was filing his nails at the same time.

Needless to say, his nails were filed.

I also, let Keupi play with an emery board from time to time.

Hey Keupi!I think you are a genious....:D
How didn't I think of that?I think I'll go buy a new one and give it to her...Only I want you people to tell me if it is safe...I mean that powder that comes off when you rub a file, what if she eats, inhales it?Maybe an emery board is safer?

(I know sand perches are best but I can't find any for her size here)

Hi! Sorry I missed this (things are hectic here).

I never gave either Fritzy nor Keupi a metal nail file. Always an emery board (to me that's a file - so I apologize for the confusion). It's similar to sand perches in texture.

I only have one 'sand' type perch in Keupi's house and did have one in Fritzy's. There was much about fid-foot health and the thing that stuck out at me was 'it's like standing on sandpaper all day.' So, I just use one 'rough' type perch and have the rest natural. That's me.

The emery board is just a standard tan on one side, beige on the other. Here where I live I can't get Keupi (nor when I had Fritzy) to the vet for grooming during the cold months. Like I said, it was Fritzy and insanity. It was cold, his nails were sharper than an knife, I definitely couldn't do the nails myself, he was attacking my filer (emery board) every time I picked it up, so I just attached a clean never-used one to his house and have at it.

With Keupi, if I can't get him to the vet for nail-grooming (and keep in mind, he's a bit stunted with growth overall), I just give him a clean, unused emery board to play with. He just marches around with it and nail issue is handled - at least when it comes to sharpness, not length.

They still need cutting, but it blunts the nails enough to suffice the colder temps. So, let Phoebus have at it with an emery board. Even with sand perches you probably will still need grooming semi-regularly. Saves stress for you and gives Phoebus another 'toy.'
