Well Toby is in his new cage and he loves it, But his play gym on top I lined his tray with news paper and husband let him out Saturday morning and he went upstairs to shower and when he came back down boy was there a mess. Shredded newspaper everywhere, he had got in bottom of the tray and went to town... Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can put in the tray on top of his cage... I really dont want a mess everytime he is let out...he is messy enough LOL

I don't know of anything he wouldn't rip to shreds. My suggestion would be to not put a anything down and just spray it with water/vinegar solution and wipe it up with a paper towel when you're done. Defeats the purpose of 'easy clean up' by tossing newspaper though.

I dont really think there is anything you could use.. I gave up on newspaper as Codie shreds it, so I just leave the tray as it is and then spray with a solution and wipe it.

Merlin no longer has a grate in her cage so she shreds the paper at least once a day. Yesterday she did it 3 times, lol! The second time about 1 second after I changed it. But, she has fun doing it, so what the heck. And anytime she is doing something independent, she isn't begging me to cuddle and pet her.

Well I use washed fine river sand on my trays or shell grit. The 2 can be combined. All i do at the end of the day is rake all the droppings & food bits with a toy rake.
