But she hates my girlfriend everytime she goes near her she snarls as if a cars coming towards her .. at first she used to fly on her head and tried to nibble her hair but my girlfriend didnt like it ...so she got alot of attention from me .. is there anything we can try so the parrot will trust her.

Welcome to the Parrot Forums Jon.

Blue fronted Amazons are part of the Hot 3, so you should do some research on that to see what your in for. If your girlfriend thinks she possesed now, wait until a few years when the hormones start raging.

The parrot has picked you as the mate and sounds to me like its just a one person bird. Your girlfriend will have to try really hard and give it lots of attention to gain some of that trust she has lost. I don't know how much her being pregnant would effect the parrots trust with your girlfriend

Sorry I missed this one ... Wow, a new baby BF zon and a new baby human ... someone's been busy .... ;) ...

Anyway, the snarling and growling with an 'zon is 100% normal from what I know, I also know that 99% of the time it's a show, they are just growling to growl and it's not a warning in anyway ... makes them feel big, ya' know. Also, as for a temper tantrum ... yeah, that's normal too! At least Sensi storms off and tries to break a toy, and not your (or your girl's) fingers. or lips, or nose, or ... oh, you get my point.

Tracy is 100% correct in the "Hot 3" comment ... please look at what you are getting into, hormonal 'zons need a VERY FIRM HANDLER!! Luckily you have like 3 years before you have to start to worry about it ... but at that time you will have very little fingers (read: 2 year-old fingers) that you will have to worry about as well ... I want you to think of your hormonal 'zon this way ... 2 year-old, who likes to bite, with the worst case of PMS that you have ever encountered.

All that aside, amazons are WONDERFUL birds if handled correctly, don't let them get away with much, set their boundaries early and you will have a very well adjusted pet for life ... also, she will learn SO MANY more words, 'zons rival Grey's in their vocal ability!

Welcome to the forums!! Hope that you will stick around and give us updates as Sensi learns new words, and as you become a daddy!
