Can anyone recommend from experience a good insurance scheme for parrots in the UK? I have tried google but the companies that come up don't give any details about hat is covered or the cost without you filling in your details, which is not something I am willing to do on spec. We used to have a dog that we insured with Petplan but I dont think they cover birds. Our primary concern is unexpected vet bills if he should fall ill.

There is only one Insurance in the UK that is good and that is Exoticdirect.. I have Codie insured through these and most people I know with Birds, also are insured with the same.

I took out insurance with Golden Valley; I received the paperwork, and it was titled 'Exotic Direct'. Either GV are just brokers, or ED bought them out.

When I was researching Uk parrot insurance, GV and ED were the only two names to come up positively.

Thanks for the clearing that up. Shame, though; I'm all for competition in the marketplace!

Yes it is a bit worrying that there is only one company.
I suppose we should get a check-up for Casper before insuring so they can't claim that any illness might have been from before we insured. We are slightly worried about his poo being a very wet in the mornings and the fact that he sleeps quite a lot.
We are not sure if we are just suffering from "new parent syndrome".
How much can a sick bird cost? I see that there are two levels of cover, up to 2.5K and 5K.
