Water bottles for Amazons - any recommendations?

We are worried that Casper never drinks anything. He just uses his water bowl as a toilet, aiming with great accuracy from the top of the cage.
So in order that he always has a fresh water supply we were thinking of getting a drip bottle, possibly one by Lixit. BUT it gets some pretty lousy reviews from people who can't get their pets to drink from it so I wondered what alternatives there are? No point in using one that stands on the floor of the cage because the only time he goes down there is when he has dropped a pea pod.
How do you make sure your bird has a constant supply of fresh water?
Thanks in anticipation of some ingenious and interesting replies.

I dont have any experiance with bottle I just place the bowl in a place so that Ville dont use it as a toilet, high up. If stil a problem maby have a "cover" a bit up so that he cant poo in the bowl.

I don't like water bottles so I don't use them....Why don't you just move the perches away from where the water bowl is so he doesn't poop in it?

Thanks for the replies, you have given me some food for thought already.
We moved his perches away but he climbs up to the open top of the cage and sits there looking out of the window. In the mornings I remove the bowl before opening the top of the cage because I know he is going to go straight up there and poop. He then looks down to see where it landed. We used to put his fruit in that bowl but decided that the water was easier to keep changing. I had thought about getting a bowl that you can move about but I like the idea of a small roof over the water bowl. I will do some experiments in acrylic sheet and see what I can come up with. It might be a roof over the bowl or a poop tray under where he squats. Actually he lifts one leg to spread his cheeks. ;)

my green cheek loves her water bottle

it took her a day or two to realize there was water in it, but she loves using it.
you just have to make sure you clean it with hot water regularly.

i use a kaytee brand

I use a water bottle for all my zons, also a dish. if you put the bottle next to the pellets they will learn to use it quick. Better than climbing to the other side of the cage where the dish is. You can always move it after they get used to it. Sometimes i have to use a small dia wire to make it drip so they get the idea what it's for. Twist the wire to a cage bar and insert the other end between the ball and the tube so that the water drips and they figure out what is going on.Zons are pretty smart and it usually doesn't take them long. you will need to clean and sterilize a bottle just like a dish. i use clorax and water for this and rotate the bottles.

Thanks Henpecked, I think I am going to get a bottle as well as putting a shelter over his water bowl. The bottles are dirt cheap and of course a parrot can work it out if a stupid hamster can. :D

I use this water bottle - it's a Lixit. I absolutely love it. I give them a dish as well to play in, but they use the water bottle for drinking purposes.

I always have the dishes up high in their cages, so they don't poop in them... I would love to try a water bottle, though, to avoid the soup mixture...

I would love to use a water bottle my alexandrines/conures use them but as they don't really have a cage, I'm stuck using a water dish. It's high up and they don't poop in it.

They did have a water bottle but I removed their door on their cage(open cage 24/7) and they went on to the outside of their and broke their bottle ;p
So no more bottle.
