Hey does anyone else zon not play or eat while your at work? I know he just sits in the same place cuz he uses the bathroom in the same spot. As soon as we get home he goes straight to his food and toys! We cover his cage and he gets plenty of sleep every night..I guess he just naps all day..

Going straight to their food when you get home is pretty common. The big question is how do they handle you being gone? If we aren't stressed ,plucking, etc. then thing's are good. don't try to fix things that aren't broke.Remember that quality time is more important than quantity.Better than most birds, they can adjust . Amazons seem to handle changes in schedule and "alone" time very well if properly socialized as immatures.

Secret & MC, two blue front amazons
I have 2 blue-front amazons. I agree - it seems like they just gravitate to the same area of their cages to use the bathroom. However - I have toys they can shred in their cages - the pieces of the wood that are scattered from here to yon (and sometimes in the floor or stairway behind the cage) prove that they aren't dormant when I'm gone. I would suggest making sure there are toys he can shred. Toys need not be expensive. I buy pieces of colored wood at the bird store so I know it's safe for them - thread those on a leather strip (again from the bird store so it's safe and not coated with something bad) and hang those in their cages. One amazon only likes the SMALL pieces of wood - has to be thin for her. The other guy will demolish a wood ladder quicker than termites.

When we get home from work - one Amazon will scurry down the cage and walk around on the floor for a while. Still not sure what that means!

Don't stress over her not eating when your not there. zThe reason she eats when you first come home is that it's a social thing that has more to do with sharing her contrubition to the flocks meal. She's not going to eat on her own with out sharing with the flock. She fully expects for you to start eating with her.The same is true when you eat your dinner, she expects for you to share.

Yes we have plenty of wood in cage and that's what's funny I change papers in cage before I leave and all morning he chews and shreds but after papers Are changed and I get back home there's no trace of wood to be found and I weigh food and it's the same. But as soon as I get home the shredding and eatin begins..that's so funny henpecked he always stares at my plate and expects me to share lol it's so funny if I eat something unhealthy I try to sneak eat since I can't share lol..yes I think he's ok while we r gone just though it was strange

Lupin is the same. He seems to climb down to near his water bowl and sleep there while I am out, but when I get home he is full of energy and mischief! I think he happily dozes saving energy for when I get home :)
