So I have been looking around for a bigger cage for Bosley.
I now have found a good deal on a huge cage, 40x30 6 feet tall.

My questions

Bosley likes his current cage, but I feel it is a bit small 28x26 inside height 3.5 feet.He has been in this cage a long time and considers it home. He spends a lot of time outside the cage- whenever I am home he is out, but I do work during the week. As an older amazon he doesn't play much when I'm not there, hubby says he naps and preens most of the day waiting for me. Will he be comfortable in a larger cage?
When he is out loves climbing his cage from the outside and is very active.

This new cage is a dome top, Bosley loves to be the clown and hang upside down and show off, can he still do this in a dome top?

The cage is used, the guy says a little rust on the wheels only, no food dishes. Has all the trays. I am going to see it Sunday, anything else I should be looking for besides, rust sturdiness and good hardware (locks eg)

Thanks

I am sure he will enjoy a bigger cage but place the old neer the new one so that he can get use to the new one.

Awesome

Thanks so much. Found it on craigslist last night and it seems the gentleman just wants to get rid of it. The price is $200.00
The best deal new I could find here was 399.00 then tax (Canada Yucky taxes LOl)
Its almost like that wenz, just the Dome is a little different.

I think Bosley will like it too, trying to set up a truck today!! and its put together so I don't have to deal with that. YAY

That is an AWESOME cage!!! Bosley will absolutely LOVE IT. :D Great find, SandyBee!!!

I would scrub it from top to bottom, then furnish it fully, place it next to or near to his current cage, ....and watch him explore. :D

Just place the new cage beside the old one, and allow him to climb and investigate it on his own for a few days. Slowly add his toys and perches one at a time so he understands that the new cage is becoming his. This has worked well for me with numerous birds. Move the old cage out when he feels safe going inside the new one on his own, I usually move the old cage out early in the daytime, so they dont sleep in the new cage right after the old one is moved out.

Placing a cage right beside like Boysmom suggested is a great choice to do IF you have the room. Unfortunately I don't have the room so I just switch them up and most birds have been with me for so long they don't really care as long as I'm there with them. They get a bit shy at first with the new cage but they start to explore within days. Or right away with some of them....
