So we rescued our zon about four months ago and we love him!! I am thinkin about getting a rosé breasted cockatoo in the next 6 months after our little zon is more comfortable with us...my question is are they very welcoming to new birds and if so would this be a good breed to bring in the house?

I can only speak from my own personal experience with my Zon! He is very jealous and I think if I bought another Bird into the House, it would upset him greatly:(

Galah Cockatoos are very different from Zons.. They are very lively and very fast! They do not sit still for more than 2 minutes..... They also destroy anything in their sight as they just love to chew! You need to watch them constantly.

I am wondering if he would get as jealous because he doesn't care much for me he is a mans bird and the new bird would be mine...

What happens if the new galah turns out to be a "man's" bird also.Go meet any new bird (all of you), still there's no guarantee. IMO i won't add another bird until your present bird is well bonded to someone, Mature, and should be accepting of all family members. I would never exspose immature pet birds of any species to other birds regardless of specie.Just my .02 worth. i have many longtime pets and know how crazy it can get when new rescues come, and leave, the flock. a new pet would be a challenge to you to make into your pet, why not expend the same amount of energy into the situation you already have? A bird that is safe and secure in it's home is more willing to tolerate a new comer, than a bird trying to establish it's place in the flock. of course you need to consider the personality of your bird as well as the personality of the new bird. I'd work harder at making friends with the bird you have , if you can do that then winning over a new bird would be "no sweat". We are talking about zons here, i'm not the one to speak about toos. They're out of my league.

Well henpecked i know i have spoken to you about sisco many times and you are so helpful! He is almost 11 and has bonded with my husband he tolerates me but the most i can get out of him is long pets while in cage but he has to be in a good mood and my hubby has to be gone before he will allow a pet outside of the cage...I just figured that is as good as it would get for me since he hates women...I tried to clicker train him but didn't respond well to it since i was the one doin it. Do you think there is anything else i should do with him other than what i already do(give him treats for pets and alot of talkin to him)...Also i fig i would need to visit some galahs before buying but if you think we are far from ready i will take your advice!!
