Our 20 Year Old Yellow Naped Amazon Named Clancy :)
Hello,

I Wanted To Share With The Community A Very Important Update! The Other Day When Clancy Was Playing Outside His Cage I Filled Up His Food Bowl With Veggies And Decided To Show It To Him Before I Put The Bowl In His Cage. I Havent Been Able To Pick Him Up For The Longest Time (Since I Was A Kid) And Decided To Go For It! Clancy Urgently Stepped On My Arm And Let Me Put Him Back In His Cage!!! I Could Not Believe It! Since He Moved In With Us It Has Been A Long Process Of Building A Trust Relationship And Working Slowly With Him. It Actually Worked! Im So Excited Now And Looking Forward To The Next Relationship Building Phases Yet To Come! Thank You ParrotForums.Com For All Your Help And Amazing Suggestions! I Was So Happy I Created A New Blog Dedicated To The Yellow Naped Amazon Species And My Best Friend Clancy! Please Check It Out If You Get A Chance! Parrots Rock!!! :)

Family bird: Yellow-Naped Amazon (George '88)
My girl: Turquoise Peachfaced lovebird (Ollie Belle, hatched 9/1/13)
That's so awesome and gives me hope! My family got George when I was 10. He lets my dad handle him but will only step on a perch for me. I would love to be able to actually pick him up! Time to get some treats and start trying again.

Good work! Once they trust you, all it takes is patience, persistence & consistency. Doing the same thing, the same way, over & over. Getting their trust is the difficult part. So, you're on your way to being a true parrot guardian.
