Dangerous "Toys"

In the last two days, I discovered two "toys" that I have to keep Skittles away from.

1. I usually wear t-shirts. This morning I put on a buton up shirt ... Skittles quickly became fascinated with the buttons. Luckily for me I caught him before he removed any, but it was clearly on his mind. LOL

2. When sporting tatoos it is recommended that you not walk around the cage without a shirt on ... He tried to remove a tatoo this morning. YEESH!

3. I know, I said two, but I remembered #3. I wear a disposable insulin pump. the location rotates from one arm to the next, and back. It normally is covered by my shirt. Again, don't go shirtless around the Tropical Chicken. (At least he didn't discover I had NIPPLES!

Omg. That last bit and tattoos are too funny! Unfortunately Jojo finds the wall trimmings and woodwork very tempting! Always have to keep an eye on the bugger! I always have wood blocks to keep him off the walls!

Oh and there are the skin tags. My RFM like to try to remove them. We will be chilling out spending some time together in a snuggle and before I know it OUCH. He has tried to bite off a skin tag. He has removed some already. Just gross.

Nipples are not safe. A curious parrot will try to figure out what they are and sometimes during the investigation they might clamp on it. I have never had that happen but when Mihijo was under 2 years old in the shower he lost his footing on my hand and in the act of falling he jumped to my chest and tried to break his fall. Unfortunately the tip of his beak made a long scratch down my chest and it hurt like the dickens. I could not wear a bra that day.

I was puting my belt on one morning and had left one end loose while I fished the other end through the loop on my wallet chain. He got hold of my belt and I darn near couldn't get it out of his beak. He grabbed the glasses off my face one as well.

A parront has to be able to think fast to avoid all sorts of "curiosities."

LOLOLOL!! @nipples hahaha

I have lost several buttons and zipper teeth- if I wear a sweatshirt with a zipper it has to be metal, otherwise chili chips off the zipper teeth. And I also have tattoos he tries to pick at lol

A few days ago hubby was watching a movie and chili had found his way onto hub's lap...where he found a button...and then his favorite- a ZIPPER! So, there was chili chomping around and I hear him yell OW!! And I come running "what happened?!".
"oh uh...chili just bit my *you know what*"
OMG. I almost died laughing.

Some of this is sounding familiar...

My macaws are lap birds. Fortunately, they didn't bite THAT, but my RFM discovered what fun it was to BITE THE ZIPPERS OFF my crotch!!! Lost about four pair of pants, and a hoodie, before I broke her of that little habit once she discovered she could do it...

No, the only time my... ahem... manhood ever came into play was in the shower. My little dusky conure was on his shower perch and apparently I was not bathing him fast enough. And under the water, where he wanted to be was that "special" shower perch... so he flew to it! :11:

Needless to say, sharp conure toenails are a sure (ly unpleasant) cure for a morning erection... and my dusky soon found that the "special" shower perch collapsed under his weight. NOW I have a dusky conure dangling by his beak from the tip of my manhood, flapping like mad, and trying to swing his feet up onto "the perch!"

So, tell hubby I can sympathize, and I feel (i.e. have felt) his pain...

My macaw could bite the metal ones in half too! That's not a beak, it's a pry bar!

There was a story years ago of a man who showered with his pet cockatoo on his shoulder.... well, wet human skin tends to be slippery.... cockatoo slipped and grabbed the first thing he could on the way down!!!!!

I'm sure it made for a hilarious hospital story as to why they had to sew a man back together!!!!

That's why I put a rag on my shoulder for Kiwi - don't want to slice open a nipple on a fall down!

Just thinking about piercings and large powerful beaks should be enough to convince a person to not mix the two.

I know parrots get fascinated with the oddest things and I've heard of people having their glasses destroyed and earings pull off (or out), But, some of the new-age piercings, like eye brows, noses, cheeks, necks. All a beak has to do is catch hold or the diamond stud in a nose and pull ... YEESH! Just made the hair on my arms stand up, LOL!

Well, the first thing I tell people with earrings is that "you are wearing bird toys in your ears." They can and will go for that every single time.

Especially the shiny, dangling ones...

or the ones that look like they have bird beads on them... Oh, I'm sorry were those expensive pearls?! My bird can't tell the difference.

I knew of one macaw owner who warned a lady to quit waiving her diamond ring in front of the bird. The bird took the ring off her finger!!! Of course, that was after he first took the finger off her hand!!! (It was successfully surgically reattached. So, yeah, I know for a fact THEY CAN!)

Careful if your wife brings home a new bird. Like her? I named her LORENA... sit down, and I'll put her on your lap!

Did I mention I found out you were cheating?!

They also sometimes decide that a particular Tattoo does not belong on your body, and will attempt to remove it...

My RFM once decided I had a couple of freckles on my shoulder that didn't belong there... she removed them! "Hold still I'm trying to groom you!"
