i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I have a new baby dyha named Mabel. She is about 6 weeks old and an absolute sweetie! She is eating like a champ, in fact as I have told Wendy she is the easiest baby I have fed for sure! She gained about 14 grams in a day! She already weighs more than my cag Dorothy! I am just astounded that she already is emitting the wonderful amazon "perfume" I never thought they would do it as much as little/big babies! She is a wonderful new addition to our family! I have put a lot of thought into our last bird. I have been looking for a female dyha as they are my favorite of the amazons! I am hoping that my cag Dorothy will grow to like her. Dorothy usually is very interested in babies. She loves to watch me feed the gcc's I breed and is such a gentle little lady. Saying that she absolutely does not like our rb2 Nigel, a bit too much energy as he seems to annoy the heck out of her. He is her bothersome little brother. I rescued a very neglected amazon years ago, Dorothy became quite friendly with her while we worked with her to get her to the place that we could find her a forever home. I think she would enjoy someone to hang out on her tree with from time to time!
