I have a new baby dyha named Mabel. She is about 6 weeks old and an absolute sweetie! She is eating like a champ, in fact as I have told Wendy she is the easiest baby I have fed for sure! She gained about 14 grams in a day! She already weighs more than my cag Dorothy! I am just astounded that she already is emitting the wonderful amazon "perfume" I never thought they would do it as much as little/big babies! She is a wonderful new addition to our family! I have put a lot of thought into our last bird. I have been looking for a female dyha as they are my favorite of the amazons! I am hoping that my cag Dorothy will grow to like her. Dorothy usually is very interested in babies. She loves to watch me feed the gcc's I breed and is such a gentle little lady. Saying that she absolutely does not like our rb2 Nigel, a bit too much energy as he seems to annoy the heck out of her. He is her bothersome little brother. I rescued a very neglected amazon years ago, Dorothy became quite friendly with her while we worked with her to get her to the place that we could find her a forever home. I think she would enjoy someone to hang out on her tree with from time to time!

:D Mabel is TOO gorgeous and TOO cute for words!! I'm sitting her cooing and cahing over here, remember when my Sam was a wee one.

I am SO happy for you, Lynn!!!! I think there's a good chance that Mabel and Dorothy can become friends, especially because Dorothy is such a well behaved, calm lady. Sam and Hunter got along right from the start, too. :)

Take LOTS of pictures of young Mabel because they grow up WAY too fast. :D

She will be a knock out! Just wait and see...and she will be a BIG, colorful girl, too. :)

I hope Mabel and Dorothy become friends, and maybe Mabel will also like Mr. high energy Nigel too lol

I am so surprised at the size on her. She already weighs 389 grams and she is still so young! I love big, bold amazons!

I'm just going to say it out loud: I truly believe you got yourself a MAGNA baby there. :D Her size, the amount of yellow AND red on her shoulders speak volumes. ;)

That is so exciting Wendy! I was looking around for one to no avail! You should see her brothers, they are huge! They were hatched 10 days before her and they are gorgeous! I wanted a female however the males are still available and there was one with so much size and color that I was a bit tempted! I am such a fan of a big amazon that their size almost got me! I am so happy however that I stuck with my original plan and got Mabel. She is just so darn cute! I laugh at her expression every time I get her out of her bed. She is such a chow hound! My goodness, it amazes me!

Lynn, you ought to tell everyone how much Mabel weighs already. ;)

My guesstimate is that when she is fully grown, she'll weigh right around 600g. :D

Ha! my little porker! Mabel weighed 389 grams this morning before breakfast! As Wendy told me "amazons live to eat!" She is certainly a great eater! Not sure what Dorothy is going to think about this, she is a petite little girl and only weighs 363!

Congrats! Where did you find a baby at this time of the year? I can't seem to find a dyh here in Georgia to my liking and am leaning towards a baby in the spring.

Absolutely adorable!

But they are so fragile at this age, I prefer to wait until they are older to hold them...
