I hope everyone doesn't mind me posting to talk about Zack so much but as a new parront I'm having a lot of questions and 'first times'.

When I first got him everytime I opened the door I was attacked. If I even acted like I was going to open it he got upset. Tonight I came home and found his food bowl on the bottom of the cage. On a whim I tried opening the door slowly, to see what he would do. When he just sat there, I slowly reached in and got the bowl out. While he set on his perch and watched!!

Definitely a first! I re-filled the bowl, praising him the whole time, also giving him a treat. One more step forward for us!

thanks for reading!

Yep! One small victory at a time: that's the way we do it. Well done you and well done Zack. :)

Awww, that's brillaint!! Congrats to you both!

Don't worry about posting "too much about Zack" ;). I do the same thing! I take photos of poor Percy just about every time he moves! LOL! And then of course, I come post it here! We love them and we are proud of them - why should we not brag and worry and be a little crazy? :)

Thanks for the replies everyine. Now it's question time...Zack has been doing a lot of grooming lately and I noticed yesterday that he has a lot of small white feathers at the bottom of his cage. January seems an odd time to be molting but maybe my home is warmer than his last one? Not even sure where they are coming from as he has no white feathers visible on him. Any clues as to what is going on?

My bfa that I got 2 weeks ago is doing the same thing. I was just going to ask about that. It is the same lots of tiny little white fluffy feathers.

I live in a different country with a different climate (veeerrry hot here currently) so I'm not sure if this helps you guys but my bfa is molting at the moment. I have not seen more than the usual amount of the fluffies but he has shed quite a large number of normal feathers.
