Welcome to the forum. Well ,you did ask this in the amazon section !!! NO amazons are much less "needy"/ clingy than toos, however they all are high "maintence", LOL. I think one of the amazon's best traits are they seem to be very adaptable, at least well socialized ones are.

Tanks for the information guys. As Wendy knows, from my other posts. I'm terrified of getting a bigger bird. Just want to know what I'm getting into before I make a 80 year commitment. Thanking of getting a mealy Amazon!

FWIW mealy amazons are my favorite. My local bird shop had one awhile back and he/she was so sweet! I think they are gorgeous.

I love Amazons. They are amazing, smart, funny, and can be devoted without being needy.

Agreed. My zon is not needy at all. He can entertain himself very well but is also willing to be with his humans.

Comparing my galah to my previous zon- my galah is much more needy and active.

Have you met a mealy yet?? I think if you met the right one, you wouldn't be so apprehensive about getting one :)

They are truly amazing to have as companions!!
