Kiwi was a little off this morning when I woke him up, and sure enough, I noticed by mid-morning he was having watery poops:( Fed him a bit of yogurt mixed with colloidal silver, and made him rest in his cage all day. He's up now, and seems to be feeling better. Not sure what upset his tummy, but I'm hoping it's passed through his system. He's devouring his dinner and his poops seem to have returned back to normal too:D Will be keeping an extra close eye on him for the next few days though.

I'm glad he's better. Now, you have to figure out what he got into! Hope he continues to improve.

Can't imagine what he got into, but poor little guy definitely had the runs and just looked under the weather earlier. Kind of had a minor freakout (ok major freakout) there for a minute. Thankfully, he seems to have bounced back after a little rest. He'll still get another drop of colloidal silver and another spoonful of yogurt before bed, so hopefully that'll be the end of it.

I am so glad that Kiwi is feeling better. Wonder what caused that?

Shhh.... we don't want to inflate that ego of his anymore than it already is:09: Actually, he eats better than most people, is spot on in weight, super active and is just a really healthy guy. This is the first time he's show any sign of any illness in years, and it seemed to pass quickly.

Thanks! I am too. Nothing makes your heart drop like seeing the "sick eyes" and then noticing poop problems in your bird. My guess is a little bit of a tummy bug or maybe he nibbled on something bad last night when he was running around on the floor before bed, though I doubt it. I watch him like a hawk + we have a clean place, so I doubt he snuck something past me.

Poor kiwi! Glad he's feeling better

My Kiwi boy has poop changes frequently it seems... Getting him to get a healthy diet is proving a big difficult, so some days he gets brown, solid poops from just eating pellets, to green from munching on food and the watery one when he eats melon or something juicy. Luckily his behavior has stayed the same!

I'm sorry to hear you had such a scare with Kiwi.

What is the colloidal silver? I know my friend used to take it years ago, but I never bothered asking her about it.

How's he doing this morning (well...I'm sure he's still sound asleep at this point...but please do tell once he's up and about). :)

He seems to be better this morning. Ate like a ravenous monster and is now untying some knots on a toy. He doesn't have that sick look in his eyes either, so hopefully we've adverted a trip to the vet:D

@ Wendy- Colloidal silver is essentially microscopic particles of silver suspended in water. Since the silver has antibacterial properties, it's basically used in lieu of a more harsh antibiotic and it's available OTC. It's kind of the homeopathic answer to a mild antibiotic. And, yes, it is safe in small does to give parrots if they're ill. I just always try to leave the harsh pharmaceutical drugs as a last resort, even with Kiwi.
