Well as it looks Rosie won't be allowed to come home anytime soon. The shelter has a 3 month wait between adoptions. Technically Victoria adopted Folger but I understand the logic. They were joking tho that the 3 month is to ensure the first adopted bird has time to bond to its home, but if we have to wait for Folgie to bond to me, well there is that saying about you know where freezing over! Tor joked I may not survive bonding to Folger. :)

Was a bit disappointed after all the jokes and photos, was really looking forward to bringing him home and spoiling him and see how he responded. So for now will just have to hope no one else falls for his silly but standoffish attitude :)

So guess its a countdown... 2 months and 8 days til we are eligible :(

How much more sucking up.,.. I now spend more time doing stuff for the shelter then the part time job that pays me!! We dropped quite a bit of money on all the fleece for preening toys and hoops.... and I let you bring Folger home.... way I see it, they owe me!!!! :)

I do understand really.... tho we've really hit it off, she hasn't known us long. I totally respect the rule, just a little disappointing after getting excited about him coming home.

I will talk to her about doing the paperwork and paying the fee so we don't lose him.... Tho always felt he would be there, never felt we had to rush to get him home.... original thought was after we move... so couple months is just back to thinking we had before.

Well, it is dissapointing but I applaud their determination to do what is right for the fids they send to new homes.

I like the idea of 'booking' Rosie ;). And while you're helping out there, you could start bonding with him :)

I'm sorry for the disappointment Jen! :( Hopefully she will let you put money down to hold him for you. That would be fair I think. I wish they could make an exception for you. I know how it is when it's hard to wait, but really 2 months will be here before we know it :)

Yep 2 months will fly... and we go over least once a month to photo and video for petfinder. I won't ask for an exception, understand why they have the rules. So I will just enjoy my visits with him and keep up with everyone here so I will be quasi amazon knowdgleable when he finally comes home!!

I feel kind of bad now for "bullying you" :( At least this shelter has the best interests of their birds at heart. I'm sure Rosie will give chomps to whomever else tries to adopt him in the next 2 months, 8 days or so ;)

Please don't feel badly, Kiwibird. :( A whole lot of us put our "bullying" panties on.

Jen, I hope they will accept a deposit of some sort so you KNOW he will come home with you in 2 months and now 7 days or so. :)

No one should feel bad!!! It was all in good fun, no harm intended and none taken!!! They do have the birds best interests at heart in everything they do. I had said from start, he seems perfectly content there, so not like hes miserable and desparately needs to be in a home.

So feel free to bully me every so often that we are still visiting "my" Rosie and making plans for his eventual homecoming. He has been at the shelter for quite some time, if a home comes along more suitable then us before our 2 months and now 7 days :) then I would have to believe that was who he had been waiting for..., just like Folger had been waiting all those years for Victoria :)

So no one feel bad, I completely enjoyed the posts and 'bullying', would not have any of you chsnge any of it :) part of the reason I check the forums on my tablet before getting out of bed, you all are part of the bird family and I always look to see what is going on. I very much appreciate being part of it and all the time and caring that went into all the 'bullying'.,,, hugs to all of you brutes!!!:D

Jen, I feel really bad for you. But I also applaud them for doing what they think is right. Now as far as putting a deposit down. How would you feel if someone else came into the shelter who may have been just as great a parents to Rosie as you would be, but unfortunately get turned down because Rosie wasn't available? I believe if things are meant to be they are meant to be.

But either way, I hope you get Rosie:)

Mike, I mentioned that.... if someone came in and Rosie picked them like Folger picked Victoria, I would want him to go with them.. I adore Rosie, hes a character and beautiful, but its not like he is begging for me to take him home. When Victoria left Folger after a visit, you knew he was upset. Rosie is more the whatever kinda guy.... but thats amazon vs too so no surprise there!

I'm sure you didn't read all the silliness in the other posts, but in a nutshell I would ask her to hold him if someone wanted him only because they wanted a DYH for their group, not that they specifically meet and fell for Rosies goofy behavior.

Think I said it before, if its meant to be, then he will still be waiting.... :)

It's good you have other birds, i'm sure he would adapt or takeover your household. Hope it works out, he sure is a good looking boy. Outgoing DYHs are great companion parrots. PS ,is Vicki still helping out at the rescue?

Awww Jen, sorry about the postponement of Rosie's homecoming, and you took the good natured bullying so well! :) I agree, if it's meant to be, it will be. Rosie will have a rosy future, it's only fair.

Well more we got her SO excited to bring this wonderful zon home;)....and now a 2 month 7day wait:11:. Disappointing for anyone, but probably a good opportunity to get to know Rosie better and bond a little:54: Rosie does sound like a very good boy if he's thriving in a shelter. Imagine how much better he'd thrive in your home?:D

Do you mean Victoria (riddick07)?? If so, yes she is still helping too, she is working on getting a newsletter together now and we both go over for photo day. She is looking forward to working with the big macaws now... shelter asked for her help with socializing....

Rosie thriving..... he's more existing... no complaints, but hopefully he will happier in a home where he gets more attention and finding out what all his favorite things are.... and have show tunes played just for him!! :)

We will see what conversation we have when I go over this week to photo new birds. But guess I will just start the countdown to cover all bases! :)

Jen, I am so sorry you have to wait for Rosie. but maybe this is meant to be since it is on your original timetable anyway:)
Just a bump in the road, my friend, and I feel certain that Rosie will be coming home with you in a little over 2 months. And if someone else does adopt him, there will be a bird who needs you more waiting there for you.
