He is very quite not even much as a peep just wondeing could he just be nervous or could he be a extremely quite bird? I have had him 5 days. I have african greys and cockatiels. they wont hush

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your Yellow Nape Amazon. :)

We'd love to see some pictures - if you have any.

Give him time to settle in, he may become more vocal once he feels comfortable and at ease. ;)

Hello and welcome!
I adopted a Yellow Crowned zon back in August, and he has just started to make noise in the last couple of weeks. Sometimes it takes awhile, I think:)
I would also love to see pictures when you have time, and I love the name Landry:)

Congrats! Amazons are wonderful, inquisitive little birds. And Landry is quite young and sounds like he's been well cared for, so I'm betting you will quickly form a great bond with him! Look forward to seeing some pics:)

P.S. Our BFA was silent for a few weeks, and we thought we hit the jackpot of quiet birds. THEN the noise came.

I hope I was not lied to about his age his is not banded. Maybe my vet can tell me if he is young or not. Im a little worried about how much water he drinks, he is drinking like a cat, my grey grabs a beak full. I hope he is not dehydrated.

Looking at the photo of him in your album, he has a LOT of yellow, which "could" be an indicator that he's older than 3.

Do you have him in quarantine, far away from your other birds? Drinking a lot of water can certainly be an indication that something is amiss. I'd have him checked by an avian vet ASAP.

We would need closeup pictures of his neck, his beak, his eyes and his feet to as much as even venture a guess.

Once they are fully mature, it's VERY difficult (next to impossible) to guess their age.

Now THAT's interesting. Is his beak light in color or is it the flash of the camera? And his feet look really light, too. I've never seen a Yellow Nape with a light colored beak and light colored feet.

My own YN has black feet, and an almost black beak.

I will send a fellow member a request to check out your photos, he's our amazon expert, and hopefully he can shed some light on this. :)

Thank you for uploading the additional photos!

So I just double checked my Yellow Nape's feet. They are grey, dark grey, NOT black. Goes to show you how much attention I've been paying for the past 15 years.
