Can anyone recommend a good zon-excorcist?

I'm convinced that Percy has been possessed by demons unknown. He woke up in a good mood but has been so aggressive since breakfast that mom, my son and I are all sporting multiple band aids! This in the space of four hours!

His eyes are about to pin themselves right out of his crazy head and he may spontaneously drop all his tail and wing feathers if he continues flaring them like this!

We've returned him to his cage for some peace and calm - for him and us! ;). He seems pretty content so perhaps he is just not in the mood for visiting today?

He's never been THIS aggressive - I can't imagine what caused it. Could it be the four hemp seeds I gave him to nibble this morning??

oh poor you Michelle.
I'm not sure if the hemp is the cause, but it is known to 'stimulate' a bird...if you know what I mean.
some breeders use hemp for production purposes.

Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the perch! I don't know much about hemp seeds, but I wouldn't imagine them causing any effect like this or this quickly. They don't actually contain drugs...

Is anyone wearing a funny color today or did something new (a decoration or something) enter the house that Percy could see?

And you guys are trying to convince me to adopt one of these crazy thngs!!???

Jokes aside, have you given him hemp seeds before? They are very healthy, I add them to nutribullet blends we drink. Possible if first time he had them its a reaction??

I can't think of anything new in the enviroment. The only new thing was the hemp. I've read up a lot on it before I gave him some and I believe they're good for him. I know they're used for female birds to stimulate breeding but I didn't think it could affect him since he's a boy (I think!).

I think he was just having a grumpy day. We've left him to his own devices and I notice he's now started playing with a toy that he's been steadfastly ignoring for a month! Yup, he's a loony! :D

He's having his new, super grain filled, birdy mash for dinner right now. I think once he's eaten, I will go over for a visit and assess the danger levels...:54:

Jen - Amazons and gorgeous birds, very gentle and amicable. Really! ;)

At least an amazon lets you know he or she is not pleased so you can steer clear;) A too' is much more subtle. They will lure a victim over by turning their little head, looking for scritches and BAM they've nailed your finger and attach themselves like gila monster:eek: J/K our parrots are ALWAYS in good moods right?:21:

It could be the hemp... it is healthy for birds, ivory steals some when I make shakes. But he could just be sensitive.. kinda like some kids are extra hyper from sugar. I have major food issues these days, so I always consider foods as potential problems when new foods introduced. Put the hemp away, and try it once more in a week. If you have another behavior reaction I would toss....

and can tell you when I have the wrong food or cross contamination, I have headaches and neuropathy pain in legs and hands, just miserable.... really feel for Percy, having one of those days from guessing cross contamination from a gluten free pizza. Lots of fluids for him in case it is food reaction, helps to flush out...

Maybe you need to ditch the seeds and try him on the buds instead? Might calm him down a bit... :D

what are you suggesting that toos are not the most open, honest and upfront, stable, reliable, totally transparent... no hidden agendas??? I can't believe you would suggest such a thing... :) Actually Folger has this super sweet hi that is specifically to get you to come near so he doesn't have to work so hard to bite your face off :) We joke that toos are the best actors in the bird world...

I totally was teasing with the adopting a crazy zon comment... I know if you look up crazy bird in the dictionary there is definitely a picture of a smiling cockatoo!! :) I was joking that when Rosie comes home, at least the eyes will tell me when I need to flee for my life!!

The green menace is SUPER gentle and sweet today... :innocent: :30_angel:

He actually dropped a treat I offered in his efforts to take it ever so gently. I think he may well be :18_crazy:

So Toos are like that also?... African birds do that. The Poicephalus parrots, and I've heard people say Greys.

OK, we've had some play time this morning and I think I have figured it out!!

Mr Percy has decided that stepping up from anywhere other than inside his cage, is for the birds...but not for this particular bird, thank you very much! :54:

He refuses to step up. Period. End of story. And if you're going to push the point, he will bite you! He accepts scritches, treats, footie rubs but NOT step ups.

WTheck?? This is new. He's been an excellent stepper upper up until two days ago. What do I do now? I cannot use a stick for stepping up because he's terrified of anything thatt vaguely resembles a stick (I believe someone beat on his cage with a stick, or even on his body -broken wing nobody is owning up to- somewhere in his past). I am his third parront.

This boy will drive me to drink, I swear! :D

My ornery thing does that sometimes too. He just sit's there and lunges, but Kiwi is ok with the stick so I just get him with that. Not sure what to do with a bird who isn't ok with a stick:52: Is he ok with a glove? I rarely use it any more, but Kiwi is also ok with a gloved hand and is usually a little more willing to get on it because he knows he can't hurt me. Perhaps offer percy your arm (and wear a nice, thick sweater;)) or do the old hold a treat *just* out of reach for him so he has to climb up on your hand if he wants said treat:21:
