Hello everyone! IMG_20130711_191618_349-1.jpg
I want to introduce myself and my baby, Buddy.
Buddy flew into my life in August. I have never owned a bird so all of this is very new to me. Buddy actually flew into my backyard last August one evening and has been my pal ever since. I brought him to the only avian vet in our area 2 days after he arrived. He has no microchip or band and the vet did not know of any missing or lost birds like him so he said "you own an amazon now" . He should have said an amazon owns you now. He is very healthy and has been dna sexed. The vet says he is extraordinary in that he is so social and will go to anyone that puts their hand out. He loves people. Especially new people that come to the house. We bought him a cage after having him for 2 days and he went right in it like he was waiting for his house to arrive. The only time he is in his cage is at night to sleep or if I leave the house. I had no idea how much joy and happiness this little guy could bring to my life. I am so in love with him. I tried to attach pictures of him. I am not sure if I did that correctly.
Thank you for listening to my rambling. I am sure i will be posting many more times because i will have plenty of questions since this is the first time i have owned a bird.

what a pretty baby!!!

And what a great story... think Buddy knew exactly where he was going when he landed in your yard!! Big hugs to you for taking on an animal who literally showed up at your doorstep needing help. Taking him to the vet and the whole nine yards, you started out of the gate doing all the right things!!

Share more photos. I do not own (or am owned by one) yet, but if you look up some of the threads, you'll see there is a gang of amazon cyberbullies on here that is encouraging me to pursue adopting an amazon that I have become attached to at a shelter I volunteer at. Think I speak for everyone here when I say, we love photos!!! We all have birds of our own, but you truly can never see too many pics of happy birds.

Welcome to the forums and look forward to hearing more about Buddy and his antics :)

Welcome and what a gorgeous boy you have. How lucky that he found you. I don't mean to sound rude but I honestly hope you regularly check to see if anyone is missing him. I say this as I lost a bird in Feb and haven't got him home and am heart broken. I heard from a bird rescue that 90% of pet birds are found but the same percentage are kept and not returned home.

I have been checking everywhere since he showed up in my yard. Especially since he is such a wonderful little guy. I could not believe that someone was not missing him. If i had lost a baby as wonderful as he is i would be heartbroken. That is the big mystery. Where did he come from and why isnt anyone looking for him? If only he could tell us. Even though he showed up in august, i still check lost pet sites just in case. I dont know if i could part with him now. He is such a wonderful part of my life.

Here are some more pictures.

Aww, such a wonderful story! Congratulations on your new buddy! This again confirms that our birds find us, not we find them. :) So wonderful that he found you that way. :)
and you are right - I'd just check craigslist and other sites for lost birds just in case someone is still looking for him. He is obviously a house trained bird.

The sad part is, a possible reason you never found anyone looking for him is a lot of irresponsible people release birds to "the wild" when they get tired of them. He may not have escaped, he may have been turned loose. In any case, I'm glad he is with you now! He looks healthy and sounds like a sweetheart:) I guess you never knew that you wanted and were destined to have a parrot huh? I think Buddy has a great story behind him, and I'm sure a long and happy life in your home.

What a lucky landing for Buddy! Like Tessie said - having the perfectt birdy just fly into our lives is the ultimate!

And a ZON too! How lucky can you get?! Zons are the bestest birds IMO and I am the besotted slave to one too ;). Oh, and don't pay Jenphilly any mind - there's no such thing as a "gang of amazon cyberbullies" here...54...

Welcome to you and Buddy. Looking forward to more pics.

Welcome :) Buddy is a real cutie.
Sad if someone did "accidentally" lose a good bird and didn't post anywhere you looked, but you did look which is very commendable :). You've tried, and now Buddy is yours! Sounds like he knew just where to fly. I think you'll love this forum, and you'll gets lots of Amazon info here as well.

Hi there and congratulations. I just joined last night having my new amazon Buddy joining our home. Love how you two met. When I was 14 that is how we got our first bird, a budgie and we named him Tweety. Now I have Buddy and he's making me smile every day.

Buddy has already brought so much joy to our house i cant imagine life without him now. He has become my best friend. I never thought i would want a bird companion but he sure did change my mind. He loves people. As soon as anyone comes to the house, he picks up his little foot as if to say "come hold me!" He is also very good about spending time with each family member. He is with me most of the day and then as soon as my husband comes home, it is his turn to play. He also loves my mom. Comes running to her as soon as he hears her voice.
I still cant understand anyone not looking for this wonderful bird.
