Anyone want a hormonal male amazon?

"Free" to good home- One hormonal male blue front amazon. Unpleasant disposition with razor sharp beak and makes inappropriate advances and loud squawks. Applicants must have high pain tolerance and poor hearing. Must be returned when hormones have calmed down and my normally sweet and well behaved bird, who has been possessed by his yearly demons, returns from the dark side. Any takers?

OF COURSE I'M JUST KIDDING (or am I?). It's like I woke up with a whole different bird this morning. Who swapped my gentle friend out with this hormone monster of doom while I was sleeping? :green:

Kiwi is 16 and he's got that typical male response to his hormones. He turns into a nasty little thing for a couple weeks. After I woke him and went to get him breakfast, I came back to find him doing his horny dance, which I ignored, so he's been in a pissy/aggressive/loud mood all day:52: At least he hasn't bit me (yet).

Have you ever dealt with teen boys? Well, male parrots are very similar in the fact both brains are focused on one thing and they're pumped full of testosterone

That makes them act recklessly and want to fight and do naughty things with anything that moves

I think we should start a parrot exchange program with our friends in the southern hemisphere. We send them all our birds when they become hormonal since it is autumn over there, and they can send us all their hormonal birds when it's spring for them and autumn for us. It's the perfect solution to hormones

That, or neuter them. Though I'm sure for Kiwi, if it came to a "semester abroad" or his family jewels, I'm betting he's be running to the airport lololol

I'm dealing with the same thing with Paco. He's approx. 16 years old and we've had him for 5 years. This year is the worst so far. He doesn't make advances but we are going through the same thing. Except he doesn't go back to being sweet. He just gets slightly less aggressive and quieter.

Are there any herbal supplements anyone has tried that helps with the hormones... betcha you wish they could 'geld' a bird like horses... The old saying... mares are from venus, stallion are from mars and geldings are from heaven
