Hi, some flaking is normal. It would help if you could post a photo. I am sure it is nothing to worry about. It would help if you could get a pedi perch or sand perch. These help with filing nails and most birds will rub their beaks on them.

Sand perches irritate the soles of the feet if overused, so try not to leave it in for long if you're going to do it. I've heard that some people buy these with the intention of filing nails, but ended up with an uncomfortable parrot. Please keep this in mind.
Pedi perch is your best buy, come is many different sizes and colours.

I have heard horror stories about a bird being crippled by sand perches and I hate them. It is up to you of course but if the bird rubbed its beak on the perch wouldn't it just make it worse? Just my opinion. Nails can be trimmed by a pair of nail scissors or naturally will be worn down by natural perches. Beaks do not need to be trimmed unless there is a medical problem usually.
