Hello everyone,
Apologies if this has been answered before, but everything I've read says zon's mating time is about 2 months long in winter/spring as days start to get longer. I had the impression that it was March to April. Here we are going into May shortly and Specs has started to do a head bob trying to regurgitate food. Then changes into clucking like a chicken while slapping his tail down (flared or not) then deep heavy breathing though his nose. Almost sounds like a whistle he's puffing so hard! So far, I've only seen him do this to me, and has just started about 5 days ago.
I'm not trying to condone this behavior but he only does it when he's on my shoulder. If I go to attempt to stop by a clicker, or to even pick him up he'll get very beaky. Not hard, but will nip/hold/grab with food as well then continue on with the dance.
Is this a sign of a mating dance? The regurgitation movements kinda make me think so. Just was under the impression that the hormonal stage was passed when we adopted him due to the other zon's activity at the fair and the posts here around that time. Could my zon just be a late bloomer?
Thanks everyone.
