Buddy - Red Crowned Amazon (27 yo)
Venus - Solomon Island Eclectus (4 yo)
Buzz CAG (2 yo)
Sam - Cockatiel 1997 - 2004
Tweety - Budgie 1984 - 1987
Sweety - Budgie 1985 - 1986
Husband and I have been paying attention to Buddy's behavior between the two of us. An example, I left the house around 10am, before I left Buddy and I did our routines, good morning, hellos, head rub, breakfast, talk and whistle back and forth. I got home around 1pm. Husband stayed home to watch World Cup action and he said after I left, Buddy didn't make a peep, no interaction. He ate his breakfast, and napped but as soon as I walked in Buddy started up all his sounds.

Do others in your house have similar experiences with your Zons?

1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
Yup. Kiwi is a whole different bird when my husband isn't home. Calm, quiet, naps, plays and is just a big sweetheart towards me (well...most of the time;)).My husband walks through the door and he's making shrilly vocalizations, getting antsy, turns feral towards me and just becomes a pest:52: Kiwi tolerates me, but he LOVES my husband and is just super excited to see him. Sounds like Buddy has 'chosen' you as his favorite person, so he's going to save all his energy especially for you:D Hopefully your hubby will work with him enough that he can handle him and that Buddy trusts and enjoys his company, but once a zon chooses a person, they pretty much have eyes for the person ONLY.

Yep - Tater (DYH) ADORES my bf; tolerates me and everyone else. When my bf is gone for long periods of time, he "warms up" to me since nobody else is around. I can always handle him, but he won't usually accept scratches/more hands-on playing unless it's coming from my bf. Then he eats it up.

Kiwi, our OWA, prefers me and our daughters to my bf. He wants infinite head scratches from us, and he starts pinning his eyes and talking when I come home. He often says "Hello" whenever anyone walks in the door. But he is always crabbier with my BF and steps up more reluctantly for him or with a petulant screech - and not usually interested in his head scratches.

Blue Front Amazon - male.
Mine behaves a bit more around my husband - meaning he won't nip as much, but not that he's a cuddly kind of Amazon - he is not. Around me, I fuss over him and talk to him more, and yet he will nip me more. Like this morning before I left for work, gave him his usual treat before I left and he proceeded to take a very painful bite on my index finger and fingernail. Took a few minutes to stop the bleeding and its very painful.

I've been bit before but the angle he got me this time was bad. I'm typing with my finger in the air. :(

Zack, a Blue Fronted Amazon
Zack will start screeching when he hears the garage door open and usually won't stop until I come in and say something to him. This even more amazing as I have a detached garage, and he can still hear it even when I leave the tv on for him. (And yes I can hear him when I am still outside, he can be LOUD!)
