Today we tore down Buddy's cage, rolled it outside and gave it a good cleaning. We put Buddy in his travel cage, put a towel on the car hood and Buddy on top. He loved being outside. He also got a mist shower and put on a show singing, whistling, spreading his wings, he was in heaven. Me? I didn't think to take pictures, I had gloves on, had broken down his cage into sections spraying every inch and crevice down. I was pretty wet by the time I finished. No cleanser was used, I was Leary of using the cleaners I have and any residue left.

After we dried every part of the cage, reassembled it outside. Buddy the attention hog was saying Hello to people passing by. It was a nice outside adventure for Buddy. And he let me know that the cage was way to clean after I put him back in, lol. Pepper and blueberries were thrown to make it more homy.

Sounds like Buddy had a GREAT time! My cockatoo loves running into a freshly cleaned cage and totally trashing it.

Awww sound like Buddy had a great day. Aren't they awful little attention hogs though? And ten when someone comes over to look at them, they just bask in all their majestic feathered glory.

Just a suggestion: Bleach mixed with water is great for cleaning cages. Non scented bleach only. After you scrub it down, you can just rinse it real good with water. IMO it works great, im sure some will argue with me but i've been using bleach to clean cages for years. Also use bleach every day to clean food bowls. (Remember, water will get slimy if not changed (2x day) and cleaned every day which = sick bird) (Which i'm sure you already know :D)

But yeah your right in being cautious. there are tons of chemicals that are deadly.

I wish you had taken photo's :D I love seeing birdies get their baths ^^
