Amazon Napping???

Zilla naps during the day. Usually for a few minutes, like 10 or 15 at a time. She isn't "puffing up" is this normal for zons? She tends to stand on one foot or the other, not favoring either, maybe she just likes to stand on one foot instead of both?

She is also sneezing occasionally, but no discharge, eyes are clear bright and clean, cere is clear and clean, no wheezing, just the occasional sneeze.

I don't remember my grey doing this, but maybe he did, it's been so long since he passed.

Just last Thurs. she was given a clean bill of health from the vet and the owner of the Bird Hut.

My living room is approx. 70 degrees, never below about 68, does she need to be warmer?

The temperature is just fine, as is napping on one foot.

When my zons nap/sleep, they also sleep on one foot, head tucked into their back.

I wouldn't worry about the occasional sneeze, as long as there is no discharge.

OK, Thank you!

I've never seen her tuck her head though, just sit and close her eyes for 10 or 15 minutes at a time several times throughout the day.

I don't remember my other birds napping during the daytime, but maybe they did.

I will just continue to watch her closely and learn her habits.

All of mine take power naps - in fact, every bird I've ever owned or fostered took power naps. It's normal. Don't worry about it, unless a usually active bird is suddenly lethargic and sleeping all day...

It's sudden and extreme changes in behavior you need to worry about.

Fluffing up while napping is like you using a blanket. Just a little layer of cozy

They also have a dominant foot just like we have a dominant hand. And so long as they aren't sleeping all day long, little "power naps" are normal for some birds. Others may take a longer nap at a certain time of day. They are all lazy bones in some way though:09: When we first got Kiwi, we were actually very concerned he was 'narcoleptic' due to short, frequent naps and actually asked the vet about it:54

As for the sneezing, if it's infrequent, he's probably just got a bit of dust in his nose or something. Keep an eye on it, but for the most part, the occasional dry sneeze is nothing to worry about.

Thank you all for putting my worried mind at ease!

She is right footed, holds her food with the right foot, stands more on the right foot.

Sneezing is very infrequent, just something I noticed and wondered about. I was thinking maybe dust, or the cats? I do have 2 indoor cats who thankfully are too lazy to be too curious about Zilla, other than thinking the blanket under her cage was a good sleeping spot and finding out it isn't cause she will throw shells and things she doesn't want (like broccoli) on your head. Gave me a chuckle the first time something hit Simon on his head...LOL Both cats are now back to sleeping in the bedroom on my bed.

It's normal. My Buddy is a perch potato. I'll wake him by talking to him and he'll open one eye to look at me, nothing else moves. Then he closes his eye and burrows his deeper into his fluffed feathers on his back. I think it's very unfair he can nap through out the day and I cant, lol.
