This is what Zilla's poo looks like this morning!

The pics are of 3 poo's all in the same general area, I couldn't get pics of each individual one.

Is this diarrhea? She has been on Clavamox for 9 days now, so I'm wondering if she has an infection that is resistant to the Clavamox.

She didn't eat much last night and put herself to bed a good hour before she normally would have.

This morning she hasn't eaten any seeds or pellets, no rice either. All she has eaten this morning is some scrambled egg, a piece of grape, apple, and 1 piece of rice cereal.

She is acting fine, awake and alert, chattering, begging to get out of her cage, eyes are clear and bright, no discharge from her cere, her vent is clean, no sneezing.

Antibiotics are known to cause diarrhea (as they kill off "good" bacteria in the gut along with the bad bacteria causing illness) and upset tummies. I would call the vet and ask for advice how to proceed and if this antibiotic can cause this reaction. The vet will know better than anyone if this is a normal antibiotic reaction or if Zilla needs a follow up and more care. Hope she's ok.

Just talked to the vet tech, who put me on hold and talked to the vet.

It is very common for this antibiotic to cause diarrhea and yeast infections, which is what they are thinking (I emailed them the pics of her poo). Of course they want me to bring her in if it doesn't clear up by this afternoon.

She has eaten more and even climbed down and ate some seeds/pellets.

Is there anything I could give her to maybe "help" so I wouldn't have to take her in? I know cranberries help with urinary tract infections in people and my vet has had me give cranberry pills to my cats & dogs before.

This isn't a urinary tract infection, so I doubt cranberries would help, though she does like fresh cranberries.

Maybe yogurt? For the yeast infection?

Hi Amanda, it doesn't look 'too' off to me, as every now and then poop can be a little different and still be fine. Doesn't look like true diarrhea. Anyway I agree with asking your vet about any concerns since Zilla was just on medication. Hopefully she's fine :)

Edit: your above post must have just come in as I was typing. I'm glad you got an answer :). I'm personally not sure 'how much' yogurt, and if it would work in birds? I've heard of it as a remedy though, just not personally sure. You could try a little and if no improvement in a day or two I'd take her in ;)

I've given Kiwi yogurt before for an upset tummy. It really does work well (or has for us, but Kiwi seems to tolerate a little dairy here and there, some birds do not). Just make sure it is plain, and read the ingredients carefully to make sure there is no chemicals or "mysterious" additives. Milk and cultures should be all that's in it. Organic is preferable if possible. Cranberries would probably do not harm, and may even do good as the reason they work on UTIs is they create an "unfriendly" environment for bacteria (may work on tummy bugs too, if that's what Zilla has).
